Kinds of interpreting LingoDan provides
It is important and both interesting to know when and why a particular mode of interpreting might be used and the differences between them. LingoDan has dedicated and skilled interpreters and translators in all of the various modes of interpreting who are ready to assist and bridge the language gap. We offer all interpreting modes in Denmark and the Gulf countries, however, only telephone and video interpreting are currently offered for the rest of the world.
This vastly used form of interpreting facilitates the meeting of people from various ethnic groups and locations to communicate together over the phone or via video conference calling.
This kind of interpreting doesn’t necessarily require that the interpreter be at either of the parties’ locations and could even be at a separate location altogether. This is not a problem whatsoever as the parties are all connected via the telephone.
This is the most popular kind of interpreting as it is widely used in both the public and private sectors alike. It is mostly used in business discussions, negotiations, contract, exchanges, commercial discussions, legal, technical discussions, medical or court hearings or on site inspections.
Sometimes consecutive interpreting may even be used for panel discussions at conferences and Q&A sessions. An interpreter will listen to the speaker and deliver his or her interpretation and meaning in the intended language during a break or at the very end.
This kind of interpreting is demanding and involved and it is often necessary for two interpreters or more to work together. Simultaneous interpreting involves that both interpreters wear headphones in order to listen to the speaker’s speech which they then relay to the audience. This kind of interpreting mostly takes place at conferences where there is a multitude of various nationals and a significant amount of participants. Due to the fact that this kind of interpreting is so demanding the interpreters often interpret only for 20 minutes and then swap.
This kind of interpreting is used to assist a client who is not fluent in the used language though it is required due to the terminology or jargon being expressed in that particular language. The interpreter will translate and explain the meaning to the client thereby assisting the client to grasp and comprehend the subject matter.
This kind of interpreting is especially useful at seminars or conferences where the majority speaks the language and only a small number do not. In this setting if a microphone and headset are used, it is only for the minority. The interpreter is usually seated with the minority and whispers to them as a group if there is no equipment used.
